Announcing an Arrival!!

Many congratulations to our friends Jeremiah and Elisa Forshey who welcomed their new son into the world at 9:55 p.m. on Saturday the 26th of May. His name is Judah Eliot and he is picured here alone, below with Mom and Dad, and with big sister Sofi. He was born at home and weighed 8 lbs, 8 oz and was 21 inches long. Both mom and little man are doing great! Congratulations guys!! We love you and can't wait to see you!

Check out all that blonde hair!!

More pictures of BBB

Here are some of the latest pictures of our baby boy. In the first picture can see his foot up by his head, whereas in the second it has been cut out. We had a bit of a hard time getting him to wake up for this sonogram. Actually we had a hard enough time that the doctor stopped the sonogram (and stopped poking at me, thank heavens) and sent us out to walk around the hospital and get something to eat to wake the baby. When we returned although he was still sound asleep, he had turned over completely and gave the doctor exactly the view he was looking for. So everything looks great, and we now have a great 3-d sonogram where the womb shakes intermittently as the doctor pokes at my belly to get our little guy to wake up, or turn over. :-)

Can't complain though, especially if this is any indication of how he will sleep after he is born!

Someone's coming!!

Someone's coming!!! Keep in your prayers today as you read this and tomorrow in case (God forbid) it lasts that long, my dear friend Elisa as she is currently having her second beautiful child. Here are Lisi and I at my wedding (where she was my matron of honor and really took care of all the details of the entire event). Lisi and her husband, Jeremiah, are hoping to deliver their second child at home today(daughter Sofi is 4 1/2).
Here is a picture of Sofi who right now, I imagine, is anxiously waiting to welcome her new little brother or sister into the family. She will be turning 5 in September when Baby Beardsley is born. (5 is old enough to babysit, right??)

"What shall I render to the Lord
For all His benefits toward me?
I shall lift up the cup of salvation,
And call upon the name of the Lord." Psalm 116: 12-13

Our prayers are with you Lisi. We can't wait to hear how everything goes!!!

A few more fun pictures....and some news...

I can't believe I didn't put up a picture of all 4 of us Beardsleys from our travels, but here we are at some park in the North of Chile (sorry for the facts you will need to ask someone more attentive ;-) Rob, Amanda, Laurie and Matt (Baby Boy Beardsley included in photo but not visible at this angle).

Here are a few more pictures from our travels:

We were able to visit some beautiful wineries while Rob and Amanda were visiting. With the changing seasons, Matt had some great opportunities for good shots (like he needs any help ;-).

As you'll notice in this picture, behind this attractive couple there is a helicopter on the lawn. We actually ate at a restaurant where some other diners had flown in and then left in their helicopter when they were done eating. We were informed that they came to eat every week at this restaurant. Very impressive. I am just getting ready for all the celebrity citings that I plan on having in California.

Speaking of California Matt and I have our tickets to go out and look for a place to live!!! Please keep us in your prayers from June 28 - July 1 as we hopefully find a great, hip, stylish, and very very inexpensive place to live, extremely close to the city. :-) See.... now that's why we need your prayers.... :-) We are dreaming big and looking forward to making a home for ourselves and our new baby.

Meet our son!

Meet Baby Boy Beardsley!! This was taken about 2 months ago, so it's not very current, but it is a great profile, so here he is.

"I will give thanks to Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Thy works,
And my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from Thee, When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth.
Thine eyes have seen my unformed substance;
And in Thy book they were all written,
The days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was not one of them."
Psalm 139: 14 - 16

It's a boy!!

Visit to Buenos Aires

For the past 2 weeks we have been enjoying a visit from Matt's brother Rob, and sister-in-law Amanda. It has been great fun for us, and a vacation for Rob and Amanda after some seriously pressing academic work. Amanda will be awarded her Doctorate in Geology tomorrow, May 12th from Rice University, and Rob who is in medical school at Baylor University just finished taking his Boards. Congratulations guys!!

Well before I speed ahead to our double Beardsley adventures I am going to post some pictures of our trip to Iguazu Falls, Argentina and Buenos Aires.

The falls can be seen from Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina. We only visited the Argentine side but we were amazed by what we saw. The falls stretched out on both sides almost as far as the eyes could see and in a near-jungle setting, they were truly breathtaking.

There were so many great things to see at Iguazu, weird looking animals called coatis, that look like raccoons but with noses like anteaters, and more butterflies in one place than I've ever seen. We spent a morning walking a trail where you can see monkeys and tucans, but unfortunately all we saw were huge spiders and ants the size of mice.

After 3 days touring around the falls and town of Iguazu we flew back to Buenos Aires for 2 days of exploring the city and visiting friends. While we were in B.A. we were able to stay with our friend Julie Buell and visit with our new friends Marilyn and Geordon Rendle who head up Youth for Christ in Argentina. It was a great visit to a very busy city but we were glad to return to our more peaceful and familiar Santiago. This is a picture that Matt took during our whirlwind tour of B.A.
