Article for thought

Here's an interested article for all of you parents with older children. This is easy to think about with Josiah only being 10 days old, but it was great to read Noel Piper's thoughts on children during the worship service. As we all know, different children have a great range of different needs... but maybe some of what they experience by seeing mom and dad during a worship service is enough to outweigh the difficulties that getting them through the service might create.

Hey Laurie!
Congratulations - he is such a cutie pie! That was a very encouraging article and after reading it I recognized that i had read it before, but it is certainly much more pertanent right now. It is a real challenge sometimes with Noah in church right now, and in the church that we're attending specifically. Especially, because we're still learning how to truly worship in another language. Thank you for reminding us of those practical points, though, VERY helpful!!

Hi Laurie,
That was a great article, and I can say, that worked splendidly with Cristen, she was an like an angel in church by the time she was 3 and a half. David was pretty dependable by the age of 5. But Nicholas, well, we are hoping that the disciplines of being in Kindergarten will help him with sitting through church. What works for one, doesn't always work for all. Many a Sunday I have struggled with frustration, embarrassment and (wounded pride) as I struggled with Nicholas who equates sitting still through a sermon with pain and agony. So, he brings his crayons and coloring books, etc, and we do the best we can. ;-)
